Location: Game Management Area and Game Management Area, Greater Kafue Ecosystem Zambia
Duration: 2 years renewable with a three-month probationary period.
Overview: The Conservation Organization is seeking a highly motivated and results driven individual to join its team as the Strategic Resource Protection Manager. This role is a blend of leadership, supervising, mentoring and coordination across two of the Game Management Areas (GMA’s) within the Greater Kafue Ecosystem; As the Strategic Resource Protection Manager,
you will be situated on-site to provide strategic, technical and administrative guidance to the organizations resource protection implementation across both the Mumbwa GMA and Kasonso Busanga GMA in line with the Collaborative Management Platform spearheaded by The Nature Conservancy (TNC).
Primary Outputs:
• Implement a Holistic Patrol Strategy for both GMA’s optimizzing manpower and providing clear and achievable goals and steps to maintain and develop the patrol strategy.
• Maintain, update and implement Standard Operation Procedures for all aspects of the LE Strategy.
• Work closely with each GMA’s Area Manager’s providing strategic guidance and mentorship to maximise on the on the ground resource protection objectives.
• Monitor and evaluate the overall effectiveness of resource protection activities on the ground.
• Adapt and maximise on conservation technology tools to monitor effectiveness in the field.
• Order, Procure, and Manage essential equipment.
• Develop and maintain a basic fitness regime across both landscapes.
• Fleet and Equipment Management.
• Keep the strategies and structures up to date with best regional practice and maintain communication with national and regional practitioners.
• Engage with and maintain close relationship with DNPW HQ Chilanga and regional offices (Mumbwa and Kasempa).
• Oversee assigned infrastructure development projects and maintenance programmes including to ensure effective budget management and cost control.

Requirements:
To be successful in the role of Strategic Resource Protection Manager, you should possess:
¨ At least 3 to 4 years’ practical experience of working in Protected Area Management, with specific experience in protected area operations/resource protection/anti-poaching/human rights training.
¨ At least 2 years’ experience of working in Southern/Eastern Africa.
¨ Excellent spoken and written English, working knowledge of local language desirable.
¨ Oversee assigned infrastructure development projects and maintenance programme’s including to ensure effective budget management and cost control.
¨ Willingness to live and work in remote conditions, with limited access to communications and modern amenities.
¨ Ability to manage all administrative aspects of the Units, from training schedules through to kit/equipment stock and ordering, maintaining budget and contractual obligations to all staff.
¨ Good understanding and use of Microsoft office programs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
¨ Good report writing and presentation skills with high attention to detail.
¨ Experience with African communities and government (desirable)
¨ Bachelor’s degree
¨ Master’s degree or equivalent work experience desirable
¨ Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
¨ Valid Driving license with Off-Road driving experience, and willing and able to drive long distances each day.
Renumeration: Negotiable on experience and to be discussed with the successful candidate. Schedule and travel to also be discussed with successful candidate.
Salary package range $50-$65k US $ cost to company per annum. Accommodation included.
